    481126 - European Martial Arts

    Medieval Swordsmanship:

Martial Arts means literally the "Arts of Mars" (the Roman god of war), so it should be no surprise that Europe boasts a complex martial culture that extends back into antiquity and continues to this day. The fighters of Medieval Europe were not idiotic brutes swinging heavy, sharpened crowbars. Rather, medieval martial artists were elegant: their art was geometric; it was agile; it was skillful. The European longsword weighs in under 4 lbs, with a balanced feel and a use for every element. Fighting with a sword integrates distance management, leverage, timing, strength, weakness, and speed. Learn the exciting art of the two-handed longsword, along with dagger, wrestling and spear. This beginner swordsmanship program will teach you the fundamental skills of the traditional European warrior in a fun, engaging, and welcoming environment great for teens and adults of all ages and levels of physical ability.
